While I have not had this authenticated, it is a one-owner pen (me) and the fakes were almost non-existent in the late 1980's. Other items to look at with real vs. fakes are 1. metal screw pieces at the lower barrel end of the pen, 2. flush caps where the clip is, 3. Engraved ID numbers and Monte Blanc words are clean and consistent, among other things that I am unaware of. Unfortunately, there are a lot of fakes out there. Real new pens will sell at $555.00, not the $80.00 pens out there.
Item was used from about 1987 (est) - 2015, then retired. It shows less than normal wear for a 39-year old pen. Engraved ID number DB101295 from W. Germany.
Since this is a collectors item, it is being sold as a FINAL SALE with no returns or refunds, but if you take it to an authenticator and they prove it not to be real (in writing on authenticator's letterhead stating such, with their cost to examine it, if any), I will take it back and refund all your money plus the cost of the authenticator's fee.
